Our Services to Parents and Carers
I currently offer:
Consultation
Video Interaction Guidance
My work with parents and carers is based on the understanding that you are the expert in your own child’s life.
I bring my psychological knowledge and skills to our partnership to support the move toward positive change.
Whether you are worried about your child’s development, feeling frustrated with their behaviour, doubting how to support your child or feeling unsure about how to connect with them, I can offer a supportive space to explore and overcome these challenges.
Consultation
Psychological consultation is a dedicated, structured time where we work together, one-on-one, to gain clarity and practical steps forward regarding your child's emotional or educational needs.
You can bring a specific problem or concern to the consultation, and I will provide space for us to explore, unpick and move forward. We will use your expertise as a parent, combined with my expertise as a psychologist develop a deeper understanding and solutions that will be realistic and relevant to your personal situation.
How is Consultation different from Assessment?
Unlike traditional assessments, which focus primarily on observation and direct work with the child, consultation is an active partnership where we blend your expertise as the parent with my professional knowledge. It is a problem-solving, solution oriented process.
What can be gained from Consultation?
Clarity and Insight: We discuss the specific challenges you are facing (e.g., anxiety, behaviour, communication breakdowns) to develop a fuller understanding of the issue and what might be contributing to the problem.
Confidence and Competence: I work with you to develop and implement strategies tailored to your situation. The goal is for you to feel confident and equipped to manage difficult situations following our consultation.
Actionable Plan: We develop a clear, short-term plan that you can implement immediately to move towards positive change.
It is focused on building your capacity so you can be the most effective supporter for your child.
My consultation approach draws upon:
narrative therapy
coaching psychology
person-centred approaches
systemic working
solution orientated approaches and positive psychology

Video Interaction Guidance (VIG)
Video Interaction Guidance (VIG) is a powerful, short-term therapeutic approach designed to help you strengthen the relationship and communication you have with your child. It works by helping you become more aware of your successful interactions, building on your existing strengths and developing your confidence.
VIG is effective because it is positive, evidence-based, and empowering. It gives you clear insight into how to enhance your relationship, leading to better emotional regulation and communication for both you and your child.
Pricing
1 hour Initial consultation: £125
VIG cycle (including film, editing and 1 hour shared review ): £250
3 VIG cycles are usually recommended for optimal intervention.
1 hour Review and action plan: £125
Total for complete VIG intervention, including 3 VIG cycles: £1000
How Does VIG Work?
Filming: We use a camera to film short, ordinary interactions (around 5–10 minutes) between you and your child—such as playtime or doing something you enjoy together.
Reviewing Success: As your VIG guider I carefully review the footage and select very short clips (usually 3–4 clips) where the interaction is flowing particularly well. These clips show moments when your child feels heard, understood, and connected.
Shared Review: We watch these positive clips together. I guide your attention to specific, successful actions you are already taking, such as noticing your child’s signal, responding promptly, or confirming their understanding.
Building Confidence: By focusing on moments of success, VIG helps you clearly see what is working. This builds your awareness, self-worth, and confidence in your parenting abilities, allowing you to use those successful strategies more often.
